Join us for fun, hands-on workshops great for the whole family sponsored by the Early Learning Coalition of the Emerald Coast!

May 25: The Chemistry Lab: Come to the Reactivity Realm (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

This workshop offers young learners a fun, engaging, and educational introduction to the fascinating world of chemistry. By combining visual appeal, hands-on learning, and real-world relevance, these demonstrations inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and spark a love of science in children. Families and early learners will watch a chemistry demonstration followed by 2-3 hands-on activities that relate to the demonstration.

May 31: Weather Station Exploration: A Weather Wonders Lab (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Learning about the weather offers a multidisciplinary approach to education, integrating science, math, language, and environmental awareness in a way that is engaging and relevant to young learners. Weather observation also involves numerical data such as temperature readings, rainfall amounts, and wind speeds. Early learners can practice basic math skills such as counting, measuring, and comparing quantities through weather-related activities.

4-5 weather stations will be available, including weather sorting activities (to encourage counting). 

June 3: Pollination Station: Unlock the Secrets Of Nature's Superheroes (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Learning about pollination provides early learners with valuable knowledge about the natural world, promotes environmental stewardship, and lays the foundation for further exploration of scientific concepts. Early learners take turns programming the Bee-Bots to navigate along the garden mats, collecting pollen from each flower they visit. 

June 10: Marvelous Me: A Journey Inside the Human Body (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Children are naturally curious about their bodies and how they function. Learning about the human body provides opportunities for exploration, inquiry, and hands-on learning experiences that stimulate curiosity and critical thinking skills. Families and early learners will engage with 7-8 stations that involve interactive, hands-on activities that are fun and educational for participants of all ages. 

June 22: Backyard Bioluminescent Bonanza: A Bio Light Adventure (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.)

(Hands-on activities 6:30-8:30, Foam Party 7:00-9:00)

This workshop involves hands-on activities such as experimenting with glow-in-the-dark materials, observing bioluminescent organisms, and conducting simple chemical reactions that produce light. These activities engage children and make learning interactive and memorable. It provides early learners with a fascinating and multidisciplinary educational experience that stimulates curiosity, promotes scientific inquiry, and fosters a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the natural world. Families and early learners will experiment, observe, and conduct simple chemical reactions that produce light. The event will be followed by a glowing foam party to spark curiosity and wonder.

June 26: Tiny Techies: Igniting Creativity in Little Engineers (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Building and coding robots offers a hands-on approach to integrating STEM skills, fostering creativity, and exploring the imagination. By physically building and programming robots, children engage in practical problem-solving and logical thinking exercises. Coding robots also play a crucial role in early education by fostering innovation and collaboration and preparing children for the demands of a technology-driven society. Families will get to experience 3 different robots including Dash, Ozobots, and Cubelets. They will code the robots to do various tasks and explore the unique ways each robot responds.

June 29: Adapt-a-Palooza: Animals' Wild Ways to Thrive (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Learning about animal adaptations provides opportunities to explore various subjects such as biology, ecology, geography, and even art and storytelling. This interdisciplinary approach enriches the learning experience and helps children see the interconnectedness of different areas of knowledge. This workshop is a fun and enriching experience for early learners, sparking their curiosity, creativity, and love for the natural world. Families will explore 5-6 hands-on stations that explore how animals survive and thrive in different environments.
