Maker Days

Our student scientists explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics during hands-on, creative workshops. Maker Days gives learners the opportunity to create, construct, and make something new at each session.

Maker Days is a drop-off program, and as such it allows many of our home school students to interact with our educators and other students in a classroom setting. These classes are designed to engage, stimulate, encourage, and challenge young children with hands on exploration using a typical class arrangement. 

Please send your child with a snack or light lunch as food is not provided.

Preregistration is required

Please ensure your registration forms have been submitted and tickets purchased. You can fill out our registration form here and either email it to website@ecscience.org or bring it with you to the workshop. If you wish to register for multiple classes at once, please email website@ecscience.org with your completed registration form and the dates you'd like to sign up for to be invoiced. Your child's spot in the workshop is not confirmed until payment is processed.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations made 48 hours or more in advance of the event date will incur a 10% administrative fee. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event will incur a 30% administrative fee. There will be no refunds offered for missed classes without notice.

Step Up Scholarship Policy

For home school parents utilizing Step Up Scholarships, we are able to provide you with an invoice including class dates, student names (you must provide these at registration), payment status, and a letter including workshop topics and educator qualifications. This can only be requested once your invoice is paid.

August 12, 13*: Creative Constructors

Building dreams one block at a time! Here, young builders will explore their imaginations, crafting innovative designs from diverse materials. Students will construct imaginative structures, learning problem-solving and collaboration skills while bringing architectural dreams to life.

September 9, 10*: Twinkle Treasures

It so shinnnnny! Dive into the world of shiny treasures as you design and create your own unique pieces using gems, beads, metals, and more. Whether you're a budding jeweler or just curious to try something new, join us for a day filled with imagination, craftsmanship, and endless possibilities.

October 7, 8: Art of Disguise

Presto chango! Transform into amazing characters through theater magic. Students will learn costume and make-up techniques that can be used to bring characters to life. From funny faces to terrifying monsters, learn about all the ways that costume designers and make-up artists help actors embody their roles.

November 4, 5: Flight Fest

Get ready to take flight! Join us for a thrilling day exploring the science of flight. Build and test incredible models, uncover the mysteries of aerodynamics, and even learn how birds soar through the skies. It's a day of fun and learning that'll have students soaring with excitement.

December 2, 3: LEGO: Wonders of the World

Explore the marvels of science through the lens of LEGO bricks. From towering monuments to natural wonders, unleash your imagination and build your own miniature wonders while learning about the fascinating science behind each masterpiece. Dive into a world where innovation meets education, and where every creation tells a story of scientific wonder.

January 6, 7: Prop Builders Workshop

Lights, Camera, Action! Step into the spotlight at our Prop Builders Workshop, where creativity takes center stage. Dive into the world of theatrical craftsmanship and learn to build props that steal the show. From crafting intricate costume accessories to designing set pieces and technological gadgets, discover how to turn ideas into blockbuster creations. Join us for a day of hands-on learning and become a master builder of props—because in this workshop, every prop is a star!

February 3, 4: Messy Mania

Time to roll up your sleeves and explore through hands-on experiments that will leave you covered in fun and learning. From explosive reactions to gooey concoctions, every messy moment is a chance to discover the hidden secrets of science. Join us for an unforgettable experience where curiosity meets chaos, and where messy science becomes the ultimate adventure! *Please send children in clothes that can get messy*

March 3, 4: Survive & Thrive

Calling all wilderness warriors! Learn practical skills like shelter-building, fire-starting, and navigation, all while gaining confidence in your ability to conquer the wilderness. Discover the wonders of medicinal plants as you join us for an empowering experience that prepares you for any outdoor adventure. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned explorer, discover valuable techniques that ensure you not only survive but thrive in the great outdoors.

April 7, 8: Wild World of Flora & Funga

Join us for a fun-gi filled day! Discover how flora and funga grow, what makes them spore-tacular, and why they're important for our planet. Get ready for hands-on fun as you make your own mushroom and build a propagation station for all your beautiful plants. Explore their secret lives and the awesome ways they help our world thrive.

May 5, 6: Matey’s Pirates and Privateers Pirates

Ahoy, me hearties! Embark on a swashbuckling adventure where students will learn the art of navigation, discover hidden treasures, and immerse themselves in pirate lore through exciting activities and thrilling tales of the high seas. It's a journey where young buccaneers will chart their course to become true masters of the pirate life.
