We invite all young explorers (ages 6-12)* to take part in our Home School Science Academy. Students will participate in hands-on science lessons designed to foster a life-long love of science. *Lessons tailored to grades 1st-5th.

About The Event

 Lessons tailored to grades 1st-5th

We  invite all young explorers (ages 6-12) to take part in our Home School Science Academy.  Students will  participate in hands-on science lessons designed to foster a life-long love for science. 

Classes scheduled for the 3rd Monday & Tuesday of the month (through May)

9:00 am-1:00 pm

The same lesson is taught on both days

Cost per session

$30 members / $35 nonmembers 

15% off each additional sibling

Additional information

Students will need to bring their own lunch

Students must be at a first grade reading level

This is a drop-off program

Preregistration is required

Please ensure your registration forms have been submitted and tickets purchased. You can fill out our registration form here and either email it to business-office@ecscience.org or bring it with you to the workshop. Your child's spot in the workshop is not confirmed until payment is processed.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations made 48 hours or more in advance of the event date will incur a 10% administrative fee. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event will incur a 30% administrative fee. There will be no refunds offered for missed classes without notice.

2022-2023 Home School Academy Schedule

August 15 & 16: Habitats and Adaptations for Survival

Get  ready to get wild! Students will be exploring why animals live in  different habitats, understand how creatures are able to adapt to the  environments they live in, investigate terrariums, and learn all about  the various adaptations animals have gained to ensure their species  survival.

September 19 & 20: Technology Takeover

Technology  has taken over how we are able to perform experiments and conduct  research. Students will discover why technology is crucial to advancing  our knowledge in all areas of Science while working hands-on with a  variety of different technologies to learn about different concepts in  STEM fields.

October 17 & 18: Laboratory Madness

Are  you mad about working in a lab surrounded by chemicals, scientific  instruments, and a plethora of experiments? Students will learn all  about lab safety, what types of work takes place in a lab, and will  participate in a variety of hands-on experiments throughout the day.

November 14 & 15: Adventurous Architects

Explore  the science of physics, engineering, and architecture. Students will  plan, build, and test structures as they participate in a variety of  engineering challenges.

December 12 & 13*: Superhero Genetics

Genes  play an important role in the makeup of all living things. Students  will be looking to superheroes as we explore fundamental aspects of  heredity, including alleles, dominance, phenotypes, genotypes, and  mutations.

January 16 & 17: Solar Science

Come  on a journey through space and learn all about the stars, planets, and  thousands of galaxies beyond our solar system. Students will learn about  the latest discoveries made, the scientists behind the progress we have  made, and what makes our solar system so unique.

February 20 & 21: Forensic Detectives

Can  you crack the case? In this mysterious program, students will use  forensics, chemistry, physics, and observation skills to investigate a  “crime” scene and piece together all of the evidence to solve the  mystery!

March 13 & 14*: Dive Right In

We  are diving deep into the vast field of Marine Biology! Students will  learn all about what lies in the deepest depths of the Ocean, discover  how to survive if they were stranded out in the Sea, and explore how we  can keep our beaches here in Florida clean.

April 17 & 18: Ecology, Pollution, and Conservation

Discover  the levels of complexity that form ecosystems, explore how pollution is  harming not only Earth but all species living on this planet, and learn  about how each and every one of us can make a difference in making our  planet a better place to live on.

May 15 & 16: Seed and Soil Science

Ever  heard the saying, “April showers bring May flowers?” Well, this month,  we will be learning everything from the soil we stand on to the seeds we  plant. Students will use a variety of tools to examine plants and  seeds, sift through soils to learn about what’s under their feet, and  discover how important the field of botany is to not only scientists but  our planet Earth.
