About The Event
Our student scientists explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics during hands-on, creative workshops. Maker Days gives learners the opportunity to create, construct, and make something new at each session.
Maker Days is a drop-off program, and as such it allows many of our home school students to interact with our educators and other students in a classroom setting. These classes are designed to engage, stimulate, encourage, and challenge young children with hands on exploration using a typical class arrangement.

2022-2023 SCHEDULE
August 1 & 2: Coding
Join us as we explore how coding is used in our daily lives, try your hand at some basic concepts, and get active testing your “codes” with your friends. We will take on this adventure Bit by Bit.
September 12 & 13*: Flying Wild
Flap, fly, and flock to the Emerald Coast Science Center and engage in some bird-themed activities that will teach you about basic bird biology, bird identification, ecology, and conservation.
October 3 & 4: Wonders of Weather
FLASH! Goes the lightning as it streaks through the sky. BOOM! Goes the thunder moments later. Why do these two weather phenomena happen together? Science gives us the answers. Students will create devices to help us explore the differences between weather and climate just like a real Meteorologist.
October 31* & November 1: Bubblology
Students will learn how bubbles form, why they're spherical, how to make a cube bubble and the science of bubble bursting with each topic related to the physical laws of the natural world. I promise you’ll be bubbling with excitement the whole day!
December 5 & 6: Fantastic Fossils
We are fascinated by fossils, but what do they say about how times have changed? They tell a tale as old as time - deep time, that is! Be transported back in history to a time when dinosaurs walked the Earth and ancient reptiles swam in the seas as we create our own fossils and engage in paleontology-themed experiments.
January 2 & 3: Paint it Out
Be the Bob Ross of your generation in this colorful workshop! Students will learn how painters can use science to help create immersive art pieces as well as create some of their own.
February 6 & 7: Mathematical Mayhem
Let’s bring calculations to life as we take basic math concepts and create 3D geometric shapes and explore the connections between math, music, and the outdoors!
March 6 & 7: Float Before you Boat
All aboard! Students will learn how vessels stay afloat in water, how radio communication is made possible on board, how to protect our marine life, and even the engineering behind boat building.
April 3 & 4: Just Hike It
Hiking is a perfect way to explore nature! Students will engage in hands-on activities and lean everything they need to know about hiking including: proper gear to wear, food to bring, safety precautions, navigation, and our natural, historic, and scenic resources found on the trail and how to protect them, too.
May 1 & 2: Eat Your Science
Snacks and science, a combo you don’t want to miss out on. Students will delve into food chemistry, learn how scientists test foods, and explore why healthy choices are important for our diet.
