March 19th Schedule of Events:
Weather Wizardry Workshop from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Get ready to chase clouds and crack the code of spring weather! In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore the science behind clouds, rain, and wind—the weather we see all around us during spring. Young scientists will model how clouds form, create rain inside a jar, and test their knowledge of what to wear as spring weather changes. We’ll wrap things up by engineering a kite to take home and experiment with how spring breezes make things move. Please note, these are not drop off workshops, but activities for the whole family to enjoy together.
Planetarium Show: Planetarium Forward! To the Moon: 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Kari Byron from Crash Test World and MythBusters launches us on a journey beyond the Earth towards a sustainable future in space. NASA’s 21st century Artemis program, named after the Greek moon Goddess and twin of Apollo, is the next step in our mission to explore the universe. Tickets for the planetarium do include an additional fee.
Creature Feature: 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
Check out some of our awesome Animal Ambassadors! Seating for the Creature Feature is available on a first come, first served basis. No reservations accepted.
Scipad: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Come one, come all! sciPad will be open for all to drop in an enjoy.
Planetarium Show: Audio Universe: Tour of the Solar System: 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.
Experience the Solar System like never before - by traveling on a spacecraft that can turn the objects in space into sound! You’ll be transported inside a special spacecraft that takes you to the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) to view the stars in the night sky, before lifting off into space to visit the Earth, Moon, Sun and all the planets of the Solar System. Each of the objects in space are represented with sounds as well as being presented with the incredible 4K resolution visuals, so come listen to the stars appear and hear the planets orbit around your head! Tickets for the planetarium do include an additional fee.
Our planetarium is powered by FPL // These events sponsored in part by Cumulus Media.
