STEAM Machine: June 2 - July 30

All aboard the STEAM Machine! Join us every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. from June 2 to July 30. Enjoy different activities every week while exploring creative ways to solve challenges with the whole family. Space on the STEAM Machine available on a first come, first served basis. You can RSVP for a selected date to help us determine the number of guests to expect on your selected day.

June 2 & 4 – Veggie Power Circuit Cards

 Design your own veggie-powered circuit card using conductive tape, a coin battery and an LED light to take home and wow your friends.

June 9& 11 – Balancing Act

Test your engineering skills with the Octacog! Experiment with levers, pivots, and balance points to see how structures stay upright. Take on the challenge of creating your own stable and wobbly builds.

June 16 & 18 – Sugar Glider Soar

Glide into the science of flight! Make your own gliding sugar glider while discovering how these tiny tree-dwellers move through the dark using special body features built for nighttime adventures.

June 23 & 25 – Nighttime Noise Detective

Become a nocturnal investigator! Use Specdrums to listen, identify, and match the sounds of animals that come alive after dark!

June 30 & July 2 – 3D Puppet Lab

Bring your imagination to life in three dimensions!Use a 3D pen to design and create your own wearable finger puppet! Shape, doodle, and bring your tiny character to life.

July 7 & 9 – Go Go Motion Lab

Ready, set, go! In our “Move It, Move It!” stations you will become motion explorers as you test how different objects move—fast, slow, roll, slide, wiggle, or zoom! 

July 14 & 16 – Chomping Dino

Roar into action with your own chomping dino! Use simple mechanics to make your paper dinosaur snap its jaws.

July 21 & 23 – Design, Build, Test

Engineer your way to success! Imagine, draw, and build their own simple model spacecraft. Then place the model through a series of tests to improve your design through trial and error.

July 28 & 30– Parachute Engineering

Defy gravity with parachute science! Design, build, and test parachutes to safely land objects from above. Explore air resistance, drag, and how shape changes the fall.

Access to the STEAM Machine is included with general admission to the museum. Military discount available.
