About The Event
Summer STEAM Workshops:
- $40 Member/ $45 NonMember per workshop
- $15 off for each additional sibling per workshop

Summer STEAM Workshop Lessons (limited to 20 students each):
Camp time includes the lessons listed below as well as fun activities on the sciPad, in our new STEAM Machine, and in our outdoor exhibit area, plus a 20-minute lunch break. Kids can expect to explore a different theme every week, and each Monday and Tuesday workshop will have different activities.

June 5: LegoMANIA Part 1 • June 6: LegoMANIA Part 2
Calling all engineers, scientists, builders, and artists! Students will have the opportunity to use Legos to expand not only their creativity but also to do hands-on construction. Students will engage in activities like building a Lego city, animating a short-film, and even assembling their own robot!

June 12: Earth, Space, & Beyond Part 1 • June 13: Earth, Space, & Beyond Part 2
Ever wonder what makes volcanoes blow, the Earth quake, the ice caps melt, and what is in the far, far galaxies of space? Students will engage in various activities that will allow them to take a closer look at our dynamic Earth and how we look beyond Earth into space using amazing technology.

June 19: The Science of Music Part 1 • June 20: The Science of Music Part 2
Calling all musical minds! In this workshop, students will explore the extraordinary processing of the human brain, working with Google AI, machine learning experiments, and Chrome Music Lab to discover the mysteries of perception and the senses. They will dive deep into the science of music through its connections to math and the abstract geometric art of Wassily Kandinsky–a painter with synesthesia who literally heard music in the colors, shapes, and lines of his paintings.

June 26: Spy Kid Academy Part 1 • June 27: Spy Kid Academy Part 2
Look out 007—the Spy Kid Academy is in session! This workshop will sharpen your special operative skills as you learn about the secret world of espionage because all great spies use science. Students will get to test their spy skills to uncover hidden secrets and clues with hands-on activities.

July 3: Grossology
Scientists use the gross things around our world to create helpful inventions, medicines, and even food. Some of that gross science is even closer than we think. In this workshop, students will look at some of the gross but helpful science we can find right around and within us! (Please dress your child in clothes they don’t mind getting dirty.)

July 10: Pirates of the Panhandle Part 1 • July 11: Pirates of the Panhandle Part 2
Ahoy ye matey! All aboard to travel the high seas and take on quests while in search of treasure. Students will go on various adventures learning about the hidden science secrets behind the life and explorations of pirates in this workshop.

July 17: Eureka! The Inventors Camp Part 1 • July 18: Eureka! The Inventors Camp Part 2
Inventing means curiosity, practicality, necessity, cooperation, dreaming, and much more. In this workshop, students will learn about some of the many inventors of the world and their important contributions. They will also create and test ideas to inspire them to come up with their own inventions.

July 24: Animal Olympics Part 1 • July 25: Animal Olympics Part 2
Ribbit! Roar! Meow! Animals are amazing, but they are also extremely clever, able to adapt to the place where they live, and hide in plain sight to avoid being eaten. Students will get to interact with some of our Animal Ambassadors here at the center and see if they can match their strength, speed, stamina, and smarts of the many animals of the world. Join us for our final days of our Summer STEAM Workshops.

Drop off and Pick up:
No children are left unattended in the museum. The museum does not open to the public until 10 a.m., so after drop off, we ask that you please wait outside of the museum or in your vehicle if you wish to bring in other children to play in the museum that day; you will need to pay general admission for this unless you are a member.
Please be on time when dropping off and picking up students. There is a fee for late pick-ups: if you are more than 10 minutes late picking up your child(ren), a late fee of $15 will be applied per child.
Cancellations and Refunds:
The Emerald Coast Science Center reserves the right to reserve or cancel classes. Each class has a minimum and maximum enrollment number. In the event of a workshop cancellation, all fees will be returned in full and parents or guardians will be notified as soon as possible. Guest cancellations made 48 hours or more in advance of the event date will incur a 10% administrative fee. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event will incur a 30% administrative fee. Guests who do not attend the event will not receive a refund after the event has occurred.
