International Podcast Day

Happy International Podcast Day! To celebrate this special day, we decided to share some of our team's favorite podcasts to listen to. From the fields of science to true crime, there is a podcast out there for everyone to enjoy!

"Ologies" is a comedic science podcast hosted by Alie Ward. So many of our team members listen to this podcast, so we just had to add it to the list! Alie brings in professionals of different -ologies, or fields of study, and ask them questions they normal wouldn't be asked during other science-related podcasts. Her lasted episode covers the study of lightning, or fulminology, with Chris Giesege.

"Serial" is a podcast from the creators of This American Life, hosted by Sarah Koenig. Sarah covers stories that are related to Serial Cases, and each season of the podcast starts a new story. The podcast follows the plot and characters wherever they lead, through many surprising twists and turns. Their most recent season covers a year inside a typical American courthouse, and they tell us all about the extraordinary stories of ordinary cases.

"Crime Junkie" is a weekly true crime podcast created by Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat. Every Monday, Ashley will tell you about whatever crime she’s been obsessing over that week in a way that sounds like you’re sitting around talking crime with your best friends. The storytelling is straightforward and free of rabbit holes so the cases stay suspenseful and are easy to follow. If you're obsessed with all things crime related, then this is the podcast for you!

"This Podcast Will Kill You" is an American podcast hosted by disease ecologists and epidemiologists Erin Welsh and Erin Allmann Updyke. This podcast might not actually kill you, but it covers so many things that can. Each episode tackles a different disease, from its history, to its biology, and finally, how scared you need to be. They even provide the perfect cocktail recipe to match their podcast! Check out their latest episode that covers thalidomide and why testing a drug's safety during pregnancy is crucial.

"Sawbones: A Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine" is a weekly, comedic medical Podcast hosted by Dr. Sydnee McElroy and her husband, podcaster Justin McElroy. Every Friday, they dig through the records of medical history to uncover all the odd, weird, wrong, dumb and just gross ways we’ve tried to fix people over the years. Their latest episode discusses how horseshoe crabs probably saved our lives due to their incredible blood.

"This American Life" is a weekly public radio program and podcast hosted by Ira Glass, produced in collaboration with Chicago Public Media, and delivered to stations by PRX Public Radio Exchange. Each week they choose a theme and put together different kinds of stories on that theme. If you're new to their show, they recommend starting with the list of episodes their host put together called "New to This American Life?"

Let us know some of your favorite podcasts in the comments! We're always looking for a new podcast to listen to.
