This past Sunday, July 3rd, was our 4th year participating in Destin Common's annual Smoke on the Coast Festival! With Bow Tie BBQ and Catering on our side as our barbecue partners, our hard-working staff, and some very special volunteers we had our best year participating.
This year we went all out and picked a theme that could easily tie into our mission at the Science Center: MAGIC! That's right, we pulled out all the stops to make the world of Harry Potter come to life on the streets of Destin Commons. We brought our favorite animal ambassadors (including Sebastian), potted mandrakes, created wands, and even played some quidditch! All these efforts won us Fourth Place for the Most Spirited Award. 🪄
Bowtie BBQ and Catering served up some delicious brisket for the judges this year and received Fifth Place for Judge's Pick! Their barbecue has placed each year in Judge's Pick, so we weren't surprised when they were called up to receive this outstanding award. The pulled pork they served to the public was so flavorful that many attendees came back for seconds! As always, Dan and his team killed it.
We cannot thank the Esposito family enough for volunteering their time not only to create intricate decorations to make our tent go from magic-less to magical, but also for supporting us during the event as well. We're already talking about what theme we want to pick for next year--so make sure you'll be at the 12th Annual Smoke on the Coast Festival!
What an impressive and magical event at the Smoke on the Coast Festival! The Harry Potter theme was a fantastic choice and really set the stage for a memorable experience. The dedication of your team and volunteers shines through, especially with Bow Tie BBQ and Catering’s outstanding performance. It’s great to see such skill and creativity, reminiscent of the high standards found in argentine asado. Looking forward to seeing what next year's theme will bring!
It was so nice experience! Snow Rider
When the screen showed the words "Game Over", I felt regretful that I couldn't continue playing Block Blast, but I will come back and try harder.
